BANGUED, Abra (PIA) — A total of 245 farmers in Abra province received government support through the Fuel Assistance to Farmers Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA).
Philippine Association of Agriculturist -Cordillera Chapter President Gerardo Banawa, DA-Abra Agriculture Program Coordinating Officer Dr Rosemarie Tesoro and Acting Governor Russell Bragas led the distribution of more than P700,000 in fuel assistance through automated teller machine (ATM) cards at the Provincial Capitol.
Each farmer got a fuel subsidy of P3,000 via ATM card which they can claim at any gas station with Point of Sale (POS) Terminal.
Famer Jayferson Bersamina from the municipality of Pidigan, is thankful for the fuel assistance especially with the expensive fuel prices that have huge impact on farm inputs.
“Dakkel ti epekto na daytoy nangina a gasolina isu gamin ti ususarek nga agpadanum dagiti talon ko, agusar nak met ti water pump isu nga dakkel met lang ti magastos ti gas kadagitoy,” Bersamina said.
[The high price of gasoline has a great effect since I use water pump machines to irrigate my farmland, and it has been costly.]
“Dakkel unay daytoy nga tulong, ta maaksayan bassit ti gastos. Ket usarek dayoty nga assistance tapnu makasubbot nak met ti gastos ti produksion ko,” he added.
[This is a big help. It can lessen my expenses. I will use this assistance to recompense costs in my production.]
The acting Governor urged the farmers to put this fuel assistance into good use for them to gain better profit.
“Dakkel a banag daytoy ta saantayo maygawid ti panagngina ti petroleo nga nasisitan unay nga usarentayo kadagiti makinariatayo, isu nga i-serbi yon ga nasayaat dagitoy tapno addan pagnaanna ti kada litro nga mausar iti apityo,” Bragas said.
[This assistance means a lot because we cannot control the prices of petroleum, which is a necessity to power you machineries, so put this to good use, maximize every liter of gasoline in your production].
DA reminded all farmers in Abra to register to the Registry System of Basic Sectors of Agriculture to enjoy assistance from the government. Farmers may seek the assistance of their Municipal Agriculturist for their registration. (JDP/CAGT-PIA CAR, Abra)
