QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — Good news! The Department of Agriculture (DA) launched, starting Friday, July 5, “Program 29” or “P29” wherein select beneficiaries can avail of the P29/kilo rice.
According to Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr., program beneficiaries include senior citizens, single parents, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and 4Ps beneficiaries who can avail of the cheaper rice starting 8:00 am every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or until supply lasts in the following locations:
KADIWA locations in Quezon City
- Bureau of Animal Industry, Visayas Avenue, Brgy. Vasra
- National Irrigation Administration Parking Lot, EDSA Diliman
Manila
- Bureau of Plant Industry, San Andres St., Brgy. 706, Malate, Manila
Taguig City
- Food Terminal Inc., Brgy. Western Bicutan, Taguig
Las Piñas City
- PhilFIDA Compound, Aria St., Talon Dos, Las Pinas City
Caloocan City
- Brgy. 167, Llano Road, Caloocan City, Beside PTT Gasoline Station)
Marikina City
- Brgy. Fortune Barangay Hall, Champaca St., Marikina City
- #1 Marcos Highway, BFCT Marikina
Valenzuela City
- Disiplina Village, Ugong, Valenzuela City
San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan

Aside from the low-priced rice, KADIWA stores can also provide other agricultural products like vegetables, poultry, and meat supplies.
The DA chief noted that more locations will be available in August.
Beneficiaries are reminded to bring their IDs and reusable bags and to limit their purchase.
Meanwhile, while the large-scale trial program is ongoing, DA will also conduct a study on supply, demand, and logistics to ensure the smooth implementation of the project.
KADIWA will also prepare booklets to monitor the purchase of rice by P29 beneficiaries.
The department also plans to sell cheaper rice at KADIWA centers to cater to non-beneficiaries of the program. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
