DA-SAAD provides livelihood projects to 2 Abra farmers’ groups

PEÑARRUBIA, Abra (PIA) — Two farmers association in Peñarrubia are recipients of a table egg production project through the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Phase II of the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera.

The Gravelinas Farmers Association in Barangay Namarabar and the Rang-ay Farmers-Irrigators and Fisherfolks Association of Barangay Patiao received a total of P899,690-worth of project assistance  under  the  Food Production and Livelihood Project of SAAD Phase II.

Said project is a package of a poultry cage with housing, layers feeds and 100 heads of chicken layers. The farmers were also provided with technical assistance on the proper care and maintenance of the project.

Rang-ay Farmers-Irrigators and Fisherfolks Association president Mario Turqueza conveyed his thanks to the DA for the livelihood assistance they received. He encouraged his fellow farmers to properly take care of the layers so they can sustain producing fresh eggs.

[Hopefully, we continue to grow this project. Our vision id for us to become a supplier of fresh eggs here in Peñarrubia, so our town will progress.]

DA-CAR  Regulatory Chief and SAAD Program Coordinator Marilyn Tejero assured the farmers that DA is ready to assist them in this venture which will  will be implemented until 2028.

“Saan kay laeng kuma nga agpatingga ti kastoy, masapul nga umangat dagitoy nga project gaputa by the end of 2028 ma-review to nu simmayaat ba ti panagbiag dagiti mannalon babaen daytoy a programa,” she added.

[You should not stop here, these projects must develop because by the end of 2028, we will review whether the status of our farmers  have improved through this program.]
