DA urges farmers to register with RSBSA

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (PIA) – To ensure continued support and assistance, the Department of Agriculture (DA) prodded farmers to register with the agency’s Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA).

Kaya kung naririnig niyo, andaming tulong. Ang tanong lang is kung paano tayo maka-avail. Actually, kailangan lang nating magregister eh as a legit farmer and then pupunta tayo sa mga munisipyo,” said DA Soccsksargen Regional Executive Director Roberto Perales.

(So, as you may have heard, there is a lot of assistance available. The question is how we can avail of it. Actually, we just need to register as legitimate farmers and then go to the municipal offices.)

Meanwhile, John Pascual, regional technical director for operations, said that there are 83 active accredited civil society organizations, or CSOs, in Region 12 under the RSBSA.

He further stated that farmers must also possess a regional CSO accreditation certificate to ensure their legitimacy.

Maraming requirements ang dapat nilang i-submit at siyempre nagkakaroon talaga ng field evaluation and validation,” added Pascual.

(There are many requirements they need to submit, and of course, there will be field evaluation and validation.)

He conveyed that registration will help the agency facilitate the necessary agricultural assistance per project to aid farmers in producing high-quality crop yields.

As of the latest count, Pascual disclosed that there are already 448,664 registered farmers around the Soccsksargen region, with Cotabato having 164,658 registered farmers, Sultan Kudarat with a record of 129,625, Sarangani with 80,617, and South Cotabato with 72,538. (HJPF –  PIA SarGen)
