DA vows more aid for Nueva Vizcaya farmers

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – More agricultural assistance is expected to be provided by the Department of Agriculture this year to boost farmers’ agricultural production in Nueva Vizcaya.

This was confirmed by DA Assistant Secretary for Logistics Daniel Alfonso Atayde during his visit to Dupax del Sur town recently for the groundbreaking of a P40 million onion cold storage facility in the locality.

Atayde personally saw the huge potential of the province in producing various agricultural products that could support the food security program of the national government.

“I am impressed by the capability of farmers in Nueva Vizcaya, especially in producing high-value products. The province can supply the agricultural demands of vast areas like Metro Manila and can extend to other areas,” he said.

Atayde also committed to providing 35 reefer vans and 15 more cold storage facilities for farmers in Cagayan Valley to support the agency’s High-Value Crops Development Program.

“Nueva Vizcaya alone has a great potential for producing all agricultural products, especially high-value ones, which it can supply to vast areas of the country,” he noted.

He also said this logistical support and assistance are geared towards contributing to the food security program in the country. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
