DAPITAN CITY (PIA) – A testament to its commitment to serve its constituents, Dapitan City recently inaugurated its first sea ambulance and mobile clinic intended for swift and convenient health and rescue operations within the city.
Mainly catering to its coastal and two island barangays, the sea ambulance aims to carry out swift emergency response to otherwise hard-to-reach areas.
According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer, Engr. Nelson Quimiguing, the sea ambulance and mobile clinic were already utilized during the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

The mobile clinic contains its own X-ray room, medical and dental chairs, an electrocardiogram (ECG), an optometry area, and a consultation area along with its own bathroom and lavatory facilities.
Angelica Mae Caindig, a local resident, expressed her gratitude for these innovations, saying that it will greatly benefit the average Dapitanon.
“It will be a big help, especially since we’re entering monsoon season,” she said. “My own child is currently suffering from a cough, so it will be more convenient for everyone.”
The mobile clinic will mainly be utilized for medical and dental outreach programs to far-flung barangays within the city.
According to Mayor Seth Frederick Jalosjos, this project was made possible through all the hard work of his department heads and officials.
“This is one of the pillars that puts Dapitan in the forefront of innovation and change,” Mayor Jalosjos said. (EDT/PJF/PIA9-Zamboanga del Norte)
