DAR inaugurates new farm-to-market roads

Cabarroguis, Quirino – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), in collaboration with the provincial government of Quirino, has inaugurated newly constructed Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) projects in three municipalities of the province.

The projects include the rehabilitation of the La Paz-Sitio Barnachea Road in La Paz, Saguday; the rehabilitation of the Villa Pascua Farm-to-Market Road in Diffun; and the concreting of the Purok 2 Villamor Slaughterhouse Farm-to-Market Road in Cabarroguis.

Each of the FMRs spans 2.3 kilometers, with a five-meter-wide carriageway and 0.2-meter thickness, including reinforced concrete cylinder pipes.

Regional Director Primo C. Lara emphasized DAR’s commitment to empowering Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARB) through sustainable infrastructure projects that promote inclusive growth and economic progress.

He also assured that a request for an additional FMR in the province would be submitted to the office of DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III.

Lara expressed optimism about its approval, citing the strong partnership between the secretary and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in improving agricultural productivity.

Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua, for his part, expressed deep gratitude to the DAR, local government units, and other partners and stakeholders for their continued support of the farmers.

Agrarian Reform Program Technologist Emmanuel Butch R. Bagay stated that the completed infrastructure projects are part of DAR’s 9-point agenda to enhance accessibility, boost agricultural productivity, and improve the livelihoods of ARB organizations and local farmers in the project areas.

“Each project will connect to the nearest highway, town market centers, and adjoining barangays, benefiting over 707 agrarian reform beneficiaries and approximately 1,613 non-ARB farmers, traders, and rural businesses,” Bagay said. (OTB/TCB/PIA-2, QUIRINO)
