CABAROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) – – In a bid to strengthen youth engagement in agrarian reform, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently conducted a Stakeholders’ Engagement with the Youth activity in support of the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (Project SPLIT).
DAR Regional Information Officer Marites U. Allag stated that the activity was organized to enhance students’ awareness by equipping them with knowledge and understanding of DAR’s land reform policies, individual land titling, and its impact on rural communities.
“It will serve as a vital bridge between DAR and the youth, fostering greater awareness, inspiration, and the potential for future partnerships,” she said, adding that through such engagements, DAR reaffirms its commitment to inclusive, transparent, and participatory public service nurturing the next generation of leaders who will champion agrarian reform and rural development.
The event featured a series of lectures from DAR officials, beginning with Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Girlie A. Castillo, who introduced DAR’s core mandates and discussed the Land Tenure and Security Program.
Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Aimelee R. Pacupac presented the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Development and Sustainability Program, emphasizing its role in ensuring food security, enhancing community resilience, and promoting local economic growth.
Under the Agrarian Justice Delivery Program, Agrarian Reform Program Technologist (ARPT) Kynlet Z. Domingo discussed DAR’s legal support services for farmers, including mediation and representation in agrarian disputes. She also highlighted the importance of legal empowerment in achieving successful agrarian reform.
ARPT Liana Mae S. Sibayan provided an overview of Project SPLIT, spotlighting key milestones and the benefits the program delivers to agrarian reform beneficiaries.
Concluding the event, Maria Yda Louise Quinan from the DAR Regional Office shared updates on PelikulAgraryo 2025—a short film competition that invites students to narrate the stories of agrarian reform beneficiaries creatively.
She encouraged youth involvement in DAR’s advocacy efforts through storytelling and digital media platforms.
The event was participated by various youth organizations across the province, including the Young Agriculturists Organization, the Future Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers Organization, and BSIT students participating in PelikulAgraryo 2025. (TCB/PIA-2, Quirino)
