TACLOBAN CITY (PIA) — The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is extending the implementation of the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (SPLIT) program for three years.
This was announced by Atty. Robert Anthony Yu, regional director of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Regional Office 8 during the Kapihan sa PIA Eastern Visayas on Tuesday, November 28.
The government granted the extension in order to cover all the target agricultural lands under the Agrarian Reform Program where the Collective Certificate of Land Ownership Awards (CCLOAS) was issued to several farmer-beneficiaries.
Through the SPLIT program, the farmer beneficiaries will get a clear and defined ownership of the parcels of land they are tilling.
“Ito po ay ginagawa to strengthen yung sinasabi nating tenurial security ng mga farmers natin,” Yu said.
However, the farmer-beneficiary has the option not to be included in the parcelization of lands.
“If they opted not to be included, they just apply for non-parcelization of lands basta lahat ng farmer-beneficiaries will sign for that then the DAR will not parcelize the collective CLOAS,” Yu added.
Under the SPLIT program, DAR Eastern Visayas targets to subdivide some 206,221.24 hectares of farmlands in the region with a total landholdings of 16,938 collective CLOAS.
Citing the data as of November 28, 2023, DAR Region 8 has already validated 84,640.31 hectares of farmlands in the region under the SPLIT program.
Out of the figure, some 13,705.27 hectares of farmlands were already subdivided comprising 9,038 individual electronic titles.
The SPLIT program was supposed to end in 2024, but with the extension, the program is expected to end by 2027. (MMP/CBA/PIA-8)
