DAVAO CITY—A total of 38 vehicles for emergency and disaster response acquired by the local government of Davao City, will be turned over to different offices of the LGU.
Among these equipment included:
Three units of Advanced Cardiac Life Support ambulances was given to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
The City Engineer’s Office will have four units of Wheel Type Excavator, three units of 10-wheeler Dump Truck, four units of 6-wheeler Dump Trucks, and one 6-Wheeler MPV (multipurpose vehicle).
Given to the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) is a single unit of van, a single unit of Open Dump Truck, and three units of Dump Trucks.
Three Mobile Emergency Vehicles were given to the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO).
The Davao City Police Office were provided with five units of Disaster Truck, four units of 4×4 Vehicle, and four units of Fiber Boat.
The Task Force Davao and the Bureau of Fire Protection will have each one unit of fiber boat.
“These vehicles will be under the care of the offices as end users, the response clusters which requested this equipment,” said Alfredo Baloran, head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office during the turnover ceremony held on Dec. 27.
These vehicles will augment the city’s current assets that will respond to disasters and calamities.
Baloran said more equipment, particularly vehicles will be turned-over to the offices under the response cluster next year.
“This is only the start of the procurement, so naa pay muabot na mga equipment (more equipment will come),” Baloran said.
These vehicles will significantly enhance our capacity to serve and protect the welfare of all Dabawenyos, particularly during times of disaster and emergency,” Mayor Sebastian Duterte said in a message read by the CDRRMO head at the turnover event.
The Mayor in his speech read by Baloran expects the offices to ensure the proper use and maintenance of these vehicles to fulfill their mission of safeguarding lives and protecting properties.
