DAVAO CITY—The Local Government of Davao City joined the Department of Tourism-XI for a nine-day tourism and investment mission in Australia.
“The main objective is to promote Davao City as a viable tourism and investment destination to Australian tourists and investors,” according to Christian Cambaya, unit head Investor Assistance and Servicing Unit of the Davao City Investment and Promotions Center (DCIPC).
From August 27 to Sept. 5, the team will be visiting the cities of Sydney and Melbourne. Also in the roadshow are Regional Director Tanya Rabat Tan leading the DOT-XI delegation and the Davao City LGU delegation included City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) OIC Jennifer Ricardo Romero, Christian Cambaya of the DCIPC,and Atty Jonah Margerette Presto of the City Mayor’s Office.
Cambaya said the roadshow had a good turnout of travel/tour operators and Australian businessmen.
The DCIPC official said for the roadshow they are not targeting a goal of investment commitments coming from their audience.
“Yun lang muna to introduce Davao City to them as an investment and tourism destination,” Cambaya said.
The Dabawenyo delegates were armed with a new Davao City Investment and Tourism video specifically created to showcase Davao City’s strengths in business and tourism.
Davao City is one of the country’s most competitive highly urbanized cities. It ranked first in economic dynamism and infrastructure among highly urbanized cities in Visayas and Mindanao in the recent Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Ranking.
It is blessed with abundant agricultural resources, a young and competitive workforce situated in a growing economy. The local government offers incentives for investors wanting to locate in the city.
Preferred investment areas in the city include; agri-business, technology, light manufacturing, infrastructure, eco industry, property development, health, inclusive business activities, education and tourism. (PIA/RGA)
