NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro, January 22 (PIA) — A senior citizen in Montevista town, Davao de Oro turned over to the police a parcel delivered to him on January 21, containing around five kilograms of suspected dried marijuana leaves.
According to the report from Davao de Oro Provincial Police, Tetie Polancos, 76, immediately informed Barangay Captain Noel Molijon of Barangay San Jose of the town upon knowing the content of the parcel. The two then surrendered the parcel to the local police station at around 10:30 in the morning of the same day.
Authorities estimated the value of the dried marijuana at P 600,000 based on standard drug pricing.
The report stated that Polancos received the parcel through a courier service with package details stating that it came from his son-in-law Virgilio Fajardo with an address in General Trias, Cavite. However, upon checking, they found out that the package has the same shipping code with a previous parcel Polancos received from Fajardo on December 27, 2024 containing clothes and household items.
The Davao de Oro Provincial Police Office commended Polancos for his vigilance and cooperation in combating illegal drugs in the province.
Police are now conducting further investigation regarding the incident. (PIA Davao de Oro/MLU/Photo by Montevista MPS)
