Davao Pasko Fiesta 2024 opens

DAVAO CITY— Davao Pasko Fiesta 2024 officially opened on the evening of November 28 during the Dan-ag sa Dabaw (Light in Davao) opening ceremony.

Davao City Vice-Mayor J. Melchor Quitain Jr. led the City Government officials and private sector representatives during the opening.

The Vice-Mayor representing City Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte also made the ceremonial switching of the Christmas lights display at the City Hall and Quezon Park which has the conceptual theme Enchanted Woodland.

“More than the lights and decorations Davao Pasko Fiesta celebrates the resilience and unity of the Dabawenyo community, Together, we have faced uncertainties, weathered challenges, and emerged stronger than ever,” Vice-Mayor Quitain read the message of City Mayor Sebastian Duterte at the opening.

Visitors at the City Hall and Quezon Park marveled at the Christmas light display which represented a whimsical forest set in the heart of the city. Vibrant colors, interactive designs, large reindeers, big gift boxes, and Santa’s sleigh were displayed prominently at the Quezon Park.

During the opening of the Enchanted Woodland, the Santabelles composed of pageant winners from Mutya ng Dabaw, Reyna Dabawenya and Hiyas sa Kadayawan alongside Santa Claus posed for photos with visiting children.

“Our concept is woodland enchanted Christmas in the heart of the city and our colors are blue, gold with a touch of orange,” City Tourism Operations Office OIC Jennifer Ricardo Romero explained the concept of the lighted attractions at the City Hall grounds which never fails to attract throngs of visitors every Christmas season.

Davao Pasko Fiesta is one of Davao City’s annual celebrations next to Kadayawan Festival and Araw ng Dabaw.  This year’s DPF will run from Nov. 28 to Dec. 31 and feature several events and activities that celebrates Christmas spirit and traditions across the city.

It has 15 major events which features choral, band, dance, Christmas costume competitions, concerts, music shows, bazaars, fair and will culminate in a Pasko Fiesta Year-End Party to be held on Dec. 30 at the Davao City Coastal Road (Bago Aplaya segment).

This year’s Pasko Fiesta activities will also be held in several parks across the three districts of Davao City. (PIA/RGA)
