Social Welfare Officer II Ofelia Adjaro leads the distribution of the supplementary feeding supplies to the daycare teachers and coordinators at the Bangued Gymnasium on January 21, 2025.

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – Daycare centers in the capital town of Abra received supplementary feeding supplies to prepare nutritious meals for the daycare learners.

Social Welfare Officer II Ofelia Adjaro led the distribution of the supplies to the daycare teachers and coordinators at the Bangued Gymnasium on January 21, 2025.

Ito is to supplement ‘yung usual meals ng mga bata para maiwasan din natin ang malnutrition sa mga daycare children. Syempre kapag gutom, hindi sila makakapag-aral ng mabuti,” she explained.

The supplementary feeding supplies that include eggs, meat, vegetables, glutinous flour, and fish among others are  good for 120 days with a budget of P15 per child per day.

Daytoy incoming nga 15th cycle is magiging P25 per child per day na ang budget for supplemental feeding,” Adjaro added.

Meanwhile, Teacher Delia Gallardo of the Precious Jewel Child Development Center in Bangued said that most of her 48 learners have gained weight with the supplemental feeding they do in the centers.

Instead of aggatang da ti chichirya o kaya biscuit, ti kanen da ti feeding is that we use these so may rice na, meron pang snacks and nafo-force silang kumain ng gulay. Sabi nila sa bahay hindi sila kumakain ng gulay pero dahil nahahawaan sila ng mga classmates nila so pagalingan silang kumain, so Malaki ang benefit niya,” she shared.

Aside from Bangued, Bucay and Pidigan also received supplemental feeding supplies from the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Cordillera. These municipalities are the last towns to receive their supplies for the 14th cycle of distribution in the province.

The Supplemental Feeding Program of the DSWD is part of the  initiative of the government to promote the nutrition and well-being of children. (JJMT, PIA-CAR, Abra)
