DBM: Increased gratuity pay for COS, JO workers a reward for unmatched service

MANILA, (PIA) — Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman has acknowledged the significant contributions of contract of service (COS) and job order (JO) workers in the government, stating that they deserve higher gratuity pay for their invaluable service.

In her remarks, Secretary Pangandaman highlighted the importance of these often-overlooked workers who play a crucial role in the country’s development.

COS and JO workers assist in various government projects, from disaster response to the operation of agencies.

Despite their non-regular status, they continue to serve with dedication and diligence.

As a recognition of their contributions, Pangandaman expressed delight over President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s approval of Administrative Order No. 28, which grants gratuity pay of up to P7,000 for qualified COS and JO workers.

Under this order, those who have served for at least four months will receive the full gratuity pay, effective December 15.

Granting a year-end gratuity pay to COS and JO workers is a well-deserved recognition of their hard work and valuable participation in the implementation of various government programs, and their pivotal role in delivering government services amidst present socio-economic challenges,” Pangandaman said.

The recognition and increase in gratuity pay for COS and JO workers is a significant step in demonstrating the government’s gratitude and support for those who work quietly for the welfare of the nation.

To all COS and JO workers, thank you for serving the nation. Your commitment, especially during challenging times, brings hope and inspiration. I believe that by working harmoniously, we can build a government and a ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ that is inclusive, effective, efficient, and sustainable,” added Secretary Pangandaman. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
