QUEZON CITY — Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro, Jr., who also serves as the Chairman of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), convened a meeting this morning with officials and representatives from various government agencies.
The meeting aimed to ensure that the national government provides adequate support for regional and local preparedness and response operations, especially as the low pressure area being monitored by PAGASA is expected to likely develop into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.
In attendance were key officials from the Office of Civil Defense, including Civil Defense Administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno, Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV, and Assistant Secretary Jekereen Joy Casipit.
Secretary Teodoro highlighted that officials from the Department of National Defense (DND), the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), and other member agencies of the NDRRMC are closely monitoring the situation. They are implementing all necessary preparations to mitigate risks and ensure community safety in anticipation of the weather disturbance.
The NDRRMC urges all citizens to stay informed and heed official advisories as the situation develops. The council remains committed to safeguarding lives and properties across the nation. (OCD)
