MANILA, (PIA) — As the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) faced challenges mobilizing resources in response to the devastation caused by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, trucks from a delivery and logistics company “came to the rescue” in the response and relief efforts, transporting essential equipment and supplies to affected areas in the Bicol region.
“The urgency for rescue operations undoubtedly intensified, and we faced logistical challenges. Thankfully, Lalamove came to the rescue with their trucks and partner drivers, working alongside our clearing, search, and rescue teams to transport essential gear—boats, food, medical supplies, and other necessities—ensuring that help arrived swiftly,” MMDA Chairman Don Artes said.
The region has been severely impacted by unprecedented heavy rainfall, leading to widespread flooding. In light of the rising waters that obstructed access to many roads, Artes expressed gratitude for Lalamove’s invaluable assistance.
Lalamove, a delivery and logistics company operating in the Philippines, committed to its mission of community support, quickly responded to the crisis.
Country Managing Director Djon Nacario said, “We understood the gravity of the task, and as an on-demand delivery platform, we answered the call. Our delivery heroes stepped up, with Lalamove’s 3-ton trucks facilitating the transport of vital supplies to the heart of the disaster in Bicol.”
This collaboration is not the first between Lalamove and the MMDA. Artes noted that Lalamove also played a crucial role during Typhoon Carina, providing tents and logistics support for relief operations.
Nacario emphasized Lalamove’s commitment to making a difference, saying, “Lalamove is not just about moving goods; our company is dedicated to continuously supporting the communities we serve, especially in times of crisis.”
As the rescue and relief efforts continue to unfold, the partnership between Lalamove and MMDA exemplifies the collaboration necessary to aid communities in distress.
Lalamove has also partnered with various government agencies, including the Philippine Information Agency-National Capital Region, to enhance its corporate social responsibility efforts and provide support to vulnerable sectors. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
