DENR-7: Free land titling, map digitization continues

CEBU CITY, Cebu, July 17 (PIA) – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 7 is continuing to provide free land titling covering residential and agricultural patents.

DENR-7 officer-in- charge regional executive director Charlie E. Fabre said there are still around 15,000 untitled lots in Cebu.

Speaking during the 8th episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, Fabre said that although the land titling program is for free, lot owners will still need to pay P150 as processing fee.

He added that DENR is also currently working on the digitization of land maps to make it accessible online to the public.

“Kahibalo ‘ta nga yuta, hilabi na sa economics, ang yuta is a capital peru kung wala kay titulo ang imong yuta wala’y value. So mao nga ang atong Secretary sa DENR naghimo siya og order sa taga DENR nga i-[digitize] ang mga mapa or ang mga data sa DENR,” Fabre said.

(We know, especially in economics, that land is a capital. But without a title, a land has no value. So, the Secretary of DENR made an order to digitize the map or the data in DENR.)

DENR-7 currently has 39 maps being digitized out of 132.

Fabre said they aim to complete the digitization process by next year.

“Through the Internet, makita nimo ang purma sa imong yuta, kinsa’y tag-iya ana nga yuta,” he said.

(Through the internet, you can see your land and check the data as to who owns the land.)
