DENR awards land titles to Novo Vizcayanos

SOLANO, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The Department of the Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has awarded 216 free patent titles to Novo Vizcayanos as part of its 37th Anniversary and Environment Month celebration.

Giovannie Magat, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources officer, said the titles with free sketch plans were awarded during the agency’s conduct of the 2nd Caravan cum Peoples’ Day at the Saint Louis School in this town, in partnership with the Land Registration Authority, Philippine National Police, the religious sector and the Provincial Local Government Unit.

Beneficiary Rosa Galbay, 56, of Barangay Ganao in Dupax del Sur, thanked the DENR for her possession of the legal document.

She said planting fruit-bearing trees within the lot for 16 years enabled her to send her 3 children to school.

Danilo Salidungan, 58 of Barangay Domang, also expressed his gratitude to the DENR.

“Since 1974, I have been living and farming in the lot as our source of income. We were able to send our children to school because of this lot,” he said.

The DENR office in the province also provided various programs and services to its stakeholders such as the Product Exhibit of People’s Organization beneficiaries, Memorandum of Agreement signing for ‘Rivers for Life’ with concerned Municipal Local Government Units, One Stop Shop of services with issuance of free sketch plans, photo booths showcasing the four Protected Areas of the province and distribution of free indigenous tree seedlings, among others.

“This is one way of bringing our services closer to our partners and is part of our information, education, and communication campaign,” Magat said.

DENR Regional Director Gwendolyn Bambalan who attended the Caravan cum People’s Day urged Novo Vizcayanos to plant more trees to mitigate the effects of Climate Change.

“Many of us wanted to have a shade because of the destructive heat of the sun but only a few are planting trees. I hope we plant more trees,” she said. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
