CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and solar energy firm GIGASOL3, Inc. has partnered for the rehabilitation and maintenance of a 28-hectare forestland in Palauig, Zambales.
The agreement is part of DENR’s National Greening Program, the government’s flagship reforestation and climate resilience initiative.
DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo emphasized that the partnership highlights a joint commitment to forest restoration and sustainability, contributing to climate action, food security, poverty reduction, and biodiversity conservation.
“Involving the private sector in the DENR’s National Greening Program is a major boost to ensuring long-term ecological stability,” he said.
Pablo added that it also plays a crucial role in preserving the nation’s forest cover and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Under the partnership, GIGASOL3 commits to adopt and maintain the designated greening site for a period of five years, targeting at least an 85 percent survival rate for planted vegetation.
Meanwhile, the DENR will provide a tree plantation plan, training on forest rehabilitation, and other technical support throughout the implementation.
The National Greening Program aims to reforest unproductive, degraded, and denuded lands across the country while contributing to poverty reduction, food security, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation. (MJSC/RGP, PIA Region 3-Zambales)
