CAINTA, Rizal (PIA) – The Department of Education (DepEd) in Calabarzon has intensified skills enhancement training programs for public school teachers aimed at raising the quality of education in the country.
In a recent episode of the Philippine Information Agency Calabarzon’s Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, DepEd Calabarzon Assistant Regional Director Loida Nidea emphasized the importance of investing in teachers’ professional growth as a means to shape future generations.
“There’s a training program for teachers. We have been allocated funds to train teachers in different subjects to ensure that they have the ability to teach both content and pedagogy. Therefore, when they are trained, they need to implement what they’ve learned in their action plans when they return to their classrooms,” Nidea said.
The training covers areas such as curriculum development, integration of technology in the classroom, inclusive education, and effective assessment methods, which aim to ensure that teachers are well-versed in both traditional and digital modes of instruction—crucial for fostering 21st-century learning environments.
With the growing importance of digital technology, the DepEd training also includes educational technology, virtual classrooms, and other digital resources to enhance learning outcomes.
DepEd Calabarzon also reaffirmed its commitment to teacher excellence by engaging in professional advancement for educators. Nidea stated that 23 school divisions in the region are actively involved in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs and accreditation.
“The 23 school divisions of CALABARZON are all CPD accredited. When a teacher is CPD accredited, they can easily renew their PRC license, which is one of the basic policy requirements for promotion,” Nidea explained.
She added, “When teachers receive sufficient training and capacity building, it means they can provide quality education to every learner, which is supported by the government through various benefits.”
These training programs and initiatives by DepEd align with the national government’s efforts to uplift the quality of education by ensuring that teachers remain competent, updated, and responsive to the evolving needs of their students and the educational landscape. (AM/PIA-4A)
