DepEd NCR underscores quality education for learners

MANILA, (PIA) — The Department of Education National Capital Region (DepEd NCR) emphasized the importance of providing quality education to school children.

During Tuesday’s weekly Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, DepEd NCR Regional Director Jocelyn DR Andaya on Tuesday said that they are focusing on improving the quality of education as they lead back more children to schools.

We are slowly recovering from the impact of the pandemic. Our priority will lead us to reach more children to be in school,” said Andaya.

The DepEd NCR chief however noted that it is not just a numbers game, but also ensuring quality education.

The more children we lead back to schools, the more challenging it is to us to ensure quality education for all of them.”

Andaya said that learners must acquire the essential skills and develop the competencies required to be ready for anything – focusing on the top five (5) priorities for the next three (3) years:

  1. Keep school-age children in school
  2. Improve foundational skills of learners
  3. Capacitate school heads and teachers
  4. Ensure learner-centered environment
  5. Strengthen governance

As we continue to implement the 5 priorities, we will also intensify the professional development of our superintendents, principals, and chiefs of divisions, and we will provide a digital portal for learning resources.”

Likewise, Andaya highlighted the importance of collective efforts to ensure quality education. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
