QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The Department of Education (DepEd) has assured that it will cooperate with the Philippine National Police (PNP) in its thorough investigation into the death of two high school students in Taguig City last Friday night.
In a statement this Saturday night, DepEd expressed its deep sorrow over the death of two students from Signal Village National High School (SVNHS) and extended its condolences to their families.
“The DepEd fully commits to cooperate with the PNP Taguig regarding this matter, and is committed towards the swift and expeditious conduct of the ongoing investigation,” according to the DepEd.
DepEd also appealed to the public to respect the privacy of the victims’ families during this time of tragedy.
Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano has also ordered the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the death of two SVNHS students, alias Irish, 13, Grade 8 and Mary 15, Grade 10, who were both allegedly found hanging inside the Girls Scout Mini Office on the third floor of Magsaysay Building of SVNHS.
Along with expressing her condolences to the victims’ families, Cayetano also assured her full support in order to help shed light on the whole incident.
The mayor also asked the public to avoid spreading unverified information on social media that will further intensify the pain of the orphans of the two students.
Taguig LGU has also sent counselors, psychologists, and psychiatrists to SVNHS to reinforce and promote mental wellness.
Meanwhile, in the statement released by the Taguig City Police, it said that there were no evidence of foul play in the death of the two high school students. (PIA-NCR)
