DepEd Tabuk, Gimpong Radio partner for education on air program

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) – -Tabuk City Schools Division and Gimpong Mankapiya-an FM Radio signed on January 10, 2023 a memorandum of agreement for an Education On Air Program.

This  is one of the activities of Project BAGWIS (Basic Education in all levels of Governance and sectors Working in Initiatives for Success) – Enhanced Reading Initiatives of the Department of  Education  Schools Division of Tabuk City.

The MOA provides for Gimpong Mankapiya-an Radio to give one hour  airtime  from 12:30 to 1:30 PM  every Wednesday and allot a 10 minute “Bed Time Story”  before  it  signs off.  Congressman  Allen Jesse C. Mangaoang shoulders 90% of  air fees and the remaining  by DepEd Tabuk City.

Signatories to the MOA are Schools Division Superintendent Irene S. Angway and Regino U. Wacas representing Gimpong- Mankapiya-an Radio.

DedEd-CAR Regional Director Estela Leon- Cariño, Cong. Allen Jesse C. Mangaoang, OIC-ASDS Feliciano L. Agsaoay Jr, Chief Supervisors Ramonchito A. Soriano and Sally P. Feken, and Hazel A. Gup-ay, consultant of Gimpong Mankapiya-an Radio  witnessed  the MOA signing.

Meanwhile, Tabuk Central School on the same day showcased before RD Leon-Cariño, SDS Angway and regional DepEd personnel a reading intervention strategy with their Reading Diagnostic Tool Kits. These kits are based on DepEd’s established Most Essential Learning Competencies. Using this tool, the teachers can determine learners who are undergoing frustration reading and can then subsequently prepare interventions for improvement. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
