BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development-Cordillera (DHSUD-CAR) will soon release financial assistance to the victims of disasters with totally and partially damaged houses this year.

Under the Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP), a household with a totally damaged house will receive P30,000 in cash assistance while a household with a partially damaged house will receive P10,000.

The DHSUD launched the IDSAP in February 2024 to directly address the immediate housing needs of families affected by man-made or natural calamities whose houses are totally and partially damaged.

DHSUD-CAR Project Development Officer V Nenilu Cacas said that they have already submitted to their central office the names of the beneficiaries in the region. About 170 houses were affected by tropical cyclone Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon while around 16 houses were damaged during the onslaught of tropical cyclone Julian, Cacas said.

“Nai-submit na po natin ‘yung mga pangalan with the help of DSWD, MSWD, and LDRRMOs, sila kasi ‘yung nakakaalam kung sino ‘yung mga nasalanta tapos we also validate and then we submit to central office,” she explained.

She added that this unconditional assistance is intended to help the affected households rebuild or repair their damaged houses.

“We monitor as much as we can. We enjoin the cooperation and support of the LGU nangruna ta isuda mismo ti makaammo nu asino dagiti nadidigra,” Cacas said.

The DHSUD said applicants just need to visit the Local Housing Board in their respective LGUs for the head of the household to be included in the master list of beneficiaries. Together with the master list, disaster report, and certificate of eligibility, the LGU will submit these documents to the DHSUD. (JDP/DEG-PIA CAR)
