DICT donates laptop computers to Romblon school

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has turned over laptop computers to Santa Fe Central Elementary School in Santa Fe, Romblon.

Known as Project CLICK, the initiative aims to promote digital literacy among students.

DICT Assistant Secretary Wilroy Ticzon led the distribution during the official launching of Project CLICK or Courses for Literacy on Internet and Computer Knowledge. The program is designed to equip students with essential digital skills and prepare them for an increasingly technology-driven world.

Ticzon emphasized the importance of digital literacy, especially in keeping up with the rapid advancements in technology.

“Magtuturo tayo sa mga estudyante ng teknolohiya. Alam natin na ang technology ay masyadong mabilis, puwedeng uso ngayon, bukas hindi na. Kaya ang DICT ay naglunsad ng Project CLICK, na nakatuon sa digital literacy para sa ating mga mag-aaral,” he said.

Aside from providing digital devices, DICT also includes training programs to ensure that students and teachers can maximize the use of the donated equipment.

Meanwhile, DICT MIMAROPA Regional Director Emmy Lou Delfin announced that Santa Fe Central Elementary School is the first school in the MIMAROPA region to benefit from Project CLICK,  commending the school’s proactive approach in securing the program for its students.

“Pero syempre, gusto namin na lahat ng schools ay mabigyan ng trainings, computers, at laptops,” Delfin said, adding that she will work to expand the program to other schools and provinces in the region.

One of the students, Charmielyn Tinio, expressed gratitude on behalf of her schoolmates, saying that having laptops in their school has been a long-time dream.

“We are lucky because it has been our dream to have laptops. I believe that this is essential to our school, especially to the special science class where I belong. The laptop would also provide us with the best educational opportunities,” Tinio said.

Through Project CLICK, DICT aims to bridge the digital divide and ensure that students, especially those in remote and underserved areas, have access to modern learning tools and digital education resources. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-Romblon)
