DICT ensures Romblon’s inclusion in digital transformation efforts

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) MIMAROPA is committed to ensure that the province of Romblon will not be left behind in the government’s digital transformation initiatives.

During the turnover ceremony of laptops under Project CLICK (Courses for Literacy on Internet and Computer Knowledge) at Santa Fe Central Elementary School on March 20, DICT MIMAROPA Regional Director Emmy Lou Delfin assured that more programs are on the way for the province.

Among these initiatives is the expansion of Free Wi-Fi sites across Romblon, as part of the Free Wi-Fi for All program.

Delfin highlighted that all municipalities in the province already have existing free Wi-Fi access points.

Aside from connectivity programs, DICT is also supporting local government units (LGUs) in adopting digital governance solutions.

One of the agency’s accomplishments in Romblon is the implementation of the eLGU system, which is already being utilized by the municipal government of Odiongan to streamline its operations.

“We will make sure that Romblon will not be left behind [in the government’s digital transformation efforts],” Delfin said.

She also emphasized the agency’s commitment to ensuring equal access to technology and digital literacy for all. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-Romblon)
