IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) recently conducted digital literacy training for 15 Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners, equipping them with essential computer skills to navigate and thrive in a technology-driven society.
The training, dubbed “Empowering Lifelong Learners,” was held at Surabay Central Elementary School in Roseller T. Lim town and focused on fundamental computer skills and practical applications of Microsoft Office tools.
Michelle Jane Salboro, district ALS coordinator, underscored the importance of the training in advancing inclusive education.
“This initiative uplifts our students by giving them the opportunity to gain skills that will help them adapt and grow in today’s digital society,” she said.

Learners engaged in hands-on sessions that introduced them to computer systems and guided them in creating basic documents, enhancing both their confidence and digital competence.
The initiative also reflects the administration’s commitment to supporting grassroots education, gaining equal access to digital tools and opportunities for growth.
Through collaborative efforts like this, DICT Zamboanga Sibugay continues to bridge the digital divide, empower communities and foster lifelong learning for a brighter, tech-enabled future. (JPA/RBI/PIA9-Zamboanga Sibugay)
