CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) — To eliminate the complexities and time-consuming processes of government service and allow locals to conduct essential transactions from the comfort of their homes, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) recently launched the eGovPH App and eLGU systems in Diffun, Quirino.
In a video message, Secretary Ivan John Enrile Uy stated that the launch is a commitment of the DICT to inclusive and responsive governance, noting that they have already developed 24 eGovernment platforms, including the eLGU systems.
“The eLGU is a testament to the Marcos administration’s commitment to provide every Filipino a better quality of life. We are working with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Anti-Red Tape Authority to offer a wide range of services, including the business permit and license system, working permits, barangay clearances, building permits, local civil registry, community tax, LGU content management system, and SMS messaging system,” Uy said.
He added that through the joint efforts of the DILG and DICT, they have successfully implemented the eLGU system in 822 local government units (LGUs) with the business permit and license system, 278 LGUs with the barangay clearance system, 141 LGUs with the building permit system, and 79 LGUs with working permits.
“In Bagong Pilipinas, we want Filipinos to transact with the government online and avoid long lines. We are fortunate to have a President who places digitalization at the forefront of national development,” Uy expressed, thanking President Marcos for championing digital transformation.
Meanwhile, Director June Vincent Manuel S. Gaudan conducted an orientation on the eLGU system for LGU information officers to enhance their ICT capabilities.
“By doing so, the LGUs will be prepared for the implementation of eGovPH and eLGU systems, paving the way for improved governance and more efficient public service delivery across the province,” Gaudan stated.
Governor Dax Cua also thanked the DICT for launching the eLGU and eGovPH app, describing them as significant gifts to the people and the province of Quirino, which he characterized as a rural 3rd Class, geographically isolated and disadvantaged province
Despite these challenges, the governor expressed aspirations for the President’s vision to digitalize provinces, announcing the launch of the province’s digital infrastructure project, which will connect 92 sites in its first phase. Cua mentioned that a second phase will connect about 400 additional sites in various locations to bridge the digital divide.
Key DICT executives and officials, including the Presidential Assistant for Northern Luzon, Asec. Ana Carmela V. Remigio, ARTA North Luzon Chief Lea-Grace Salcedo, national government offices, and local officials from the province attended the event. (OTB/ TCB/PIA2, QUIRINO)
