DICT to roll out, provide training on eLGU app in Pangasinan

STA. BARBARA, Pangasinan (PIA) — To speed up the delivery of basic services, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) will train local government employees on how to run the Electronic Local Government Unit (eLGU) System  on June 6 at the Pangasinan Training Development Center II (PTDC 2) in Lingayen town.

June Vincent Manuel Gaudan, officer-in-charge of DICT Region 1, said the training will help LGU workers better understand how to maintain and operate this one-stop mobile application before it is rolled out to the public.

The app covers business permit licensing, business tax, community tax, health certificates, local civil registry, notification system, notice of violations, and real property tax.

“DICT wants to ensure that LGUs are well-equipped with the system. We won’t just provide the system and leave them; we will teach and assist them in maintaining it,” Gaudan said in an interview.

The system was developed as a vital component of the e-Gov PH Super App, a mobile application that integrates multi-sectoral government services into a single platform.

“One of our current focuses is integrating many LGUs into the e-LGU system, a microservice within the e-Gov app,” Gaudan said.

He emphasized that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is fully committed to supporting the digital transformation of the Philippines.

On June 3, about 300 workers from LGUs, national government agencies, (NGAs), private sectors, and educational institutions attended the final leg of the DICT Region 1 roadshow at the PTDC 2.

Under the theme “Bayang Digital ang Bagong Pilipinas,” attendees were encouraged to embrace the principles of Bagong Pilipinas and adopt digitalization across commerce, governance, industries, lifestyle, and public service to build a secure and bright future.

In addition to learning about the DICT’s accomplishments, participants explored interactive booths, including those from the Cybersecurity Bureau, the e-Government app, and the ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau.

“I have gained valuable knowledge and am eager to share it with others to enhance the efficiency of our services. The DICT apps offer numerous benefits for all of us. Let us show our support by participating in events like this, as they provide valuable insights into the government’s programs, projects, and services available to the public,” said Fe Mary Anne Antonio, administrative aide at the Office of the Mayor in Urdaneta City.

Moreover, 48 individuals gained an understanding of digital marketing and artificial intelligence (AI) during the breakout session.

They learned key strategies to enhance their online presence and grow their business and discovered how AI can revolutionize your operations and drive innovation.

“I am feeling grateful because my knowledge, especially in digital matters, has expanded. I have learned about the impact of the digital world on marketing compared to traditional methods. In today’s era, it is cost-efficient and effective because almost everyone is using social media,” John Michael Dela Cruz, a third-year student in Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at Pangasinan State University – Lingayen campus, expressed.

The roadshow began on May 24 at the Plaza Del Norte Hotel and Convention Center in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, continued with the second leg on May 28 at Plaza Maestro in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, and the third leg on May 30 at the Saint Louis College Gymnasium in San Fernando City, La Union, before concluding in Pangasinan on June 3.
