CAMIGUIN (PIA)–The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 honored the Local Government of Camiguin for its remarkable achievements this year, highlighting the province’s dedication to excellence across various assessments.
In the Peace and Order Council assessment, both the province and its municipalities, namely Catarman, Guinsiliban, Mahinog, Mambajao, and Sagay, achieved an impressive 100% compliance status. This recognition reflects their commitment to maintaining peace and order in the community.
Similarly, in the Anti-Drug Abuse Council assessment, LGU Camiguin, along with its five municipalities, demonstrated outstanding commitment, earning a perfect 100% compliance rating.
Camiguin Province excelled in the Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Their Children (LCAT-VAWC) assessment, boasting an exceptional 103% compliance. Sagay reached 101% compliance, while Catarman, Guinsiliban, and Mahinog achieved a commendable 103%, and Mambajao surpassed expectations with an impressive 105%.
For child care initiatives, Camiguin Province demonstrated a strong commitment, attaining a commendable 97.71% compliance in the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) assessment. The municipalities followed suit, with Catarman at 95.43%, Guinsiliban at 97.6%, Mahinog at 91.45%, and Mambajao and Sagay at 98.86%.
The awards underscore the collective efforts and commitment of the province and its municipalities to uphold the highest standards in various assessments, contributing to the overall well-being and safety of the community.
Governor Xavier Jesus Romualdo expressed gratitude for the recognition, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of local government units and community members. He emphasized that these achievements “are not the work of just one person, a couple of people, or the LGUs. Dili ni siya trabaho sa gamay ra, but a group of people [this is not the work of a few people but a group of people].”
The provincial government, along with the local governments of Catarman, Mahinog, and Sagay, will also grace the national awarding of the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance in Manila on December 13–14, along with the other 489 LGUs.
