BALANGA CITY (PIA) — Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) inaugurated the new water system at the Modern Palengke in Pilar, Bataan.
The P5-million project was funded under the Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF), which was provided to the local government unit (LGU) for passing the 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance.
In her message, DILG Provincial Director Belina Herman lauded the LGU for the collaborative effort in completing the project.
She underscored that it is not about the monetary value but the pride of the LGU in having the SGLGIF since it is the hardest to acquire among DILG locally funded projects.
For his part, Mayor Carlos Pizarro Jr. said the project would make a significant contribution to the municipality’s current water supply system. “All water tanks are interconnected in this project so that if one malfunctions, others can provide backup water supply,” he furthered.
The local chief executive added that the municipal government is grateful for the projects funded and implemented by DILG.
SGLGIF, formerly known as Performance Challenge Fund, is an incentive given in the form of a financial grant to eligible LGUs under the Local Governance Performance Management Program. (CLJD/RPQ-PIA 3)
