QUEZON CITY, (PIA)– The regional office of the Department of Interior & Local Government in the National Capital Region (DILG-NCR), through its Local Governance Resource Center (LGRC), entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Metro Manila Councilors League (MMCL) to formalize their partnership to promote good governance in the NCR.

The partnership aims to boost the opportunity of both parties to get updates on best practices undertaken by the 16 cities and lone municipality of the NCR in various legislative and governance areas, which can be adopted by other LGUs in the region.

The MOU was signed during the MMCL’s 2nd General Assembly on September 7, 2023. Signing parties include DILG-NCR Regional Director Maria Lourdes L. Agustin and Assistant Regional Director Atty. Ana Lyn R. Baltazar-Cortez, and MMCL President Councilor Carolyn C. Cunanan and MMCL Chairman Councilor Francis Keith R. Peralta.

RD Agustin urges the Councilors to explore synergistic complementation between and among jurisdictions when opportunities present themselves. “By doing so, these acts can advance the public good,” she said.

Councilor Cunanan said that the partnership will bring legislative excellence in the region, pooling knowledge in various facets of urban local governance, and developing sustainable and structured experiential exchanges locally and globally. (dilg-ncr/pia-ncr)
