CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA)- -The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), in partnership with the provincial government, completed the three batches of capacity intervention for Lupong Tagapamaya.
The capacity development intervention dubbed as Keeping the Lupon Abreast with Procedural Measures in Promoting and Yearning Amicable Settlements (KAPYA) Para iti Kailyan aimed to orient the Lupong Tagapamayapa (LT) on their legal mandates, roles and responsibilities in resolution of conflict or administration of justice in their respective barangays.
KAPYA, an Ilocano word that means peace, was used as inspiration to introduce an initiative focused in capacitating Lupon members as key actors in the administration of Katarungang Pambarangay (KP.)
DILG Regional Director Agnes A. De Leon recognized the unparalleled service of the Lupons and highlighted the gravity of their responsibilities to keeping peace and harmony in the community.
She further urged Lupons to maximize the opportunity and apply their learnings in the administration of KP.
Meanwhile, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Jovino F. Navalta, who represented Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua, encouraged the Lupons to continue doing their best practices saying that these were proven to be effective in declogging court dockets.
Navalta likewise expressed hope that the objectives of the said activity will be met and that more Lupons will emerge as LTIA winners.
Also discussed during the orientation were: the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) Guidelines by Local Government Operations Officer Jasmin O. Aresta; Fundamentals of KP by Atty. Reymos C. Mabudyang and Execution of Agreements by Executive Judge Remalie Corbe-Cardenas. (OTB/TCB/PIA-2, QUIRINO)
