ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) —The Kalinga at Inisyatiba para sa Malinis na Bayan (KALINISAN) sa Bagong Pilipinas Program of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has collected 1,028.2 kilos of waste in the province of Capiz.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. conceptualized the Kalinisan sa Bagong Pilipinas Program to provide a healthy and safe environment for all.
From January to June this year, Brgy. Agustin Navarra in Ivisan, Brgy. Dapdapan in Sapian, Brgy. Taft in Tapaz, and Brgy. Agtambi in Dao were chosen to participate in the clean-up activity as the province’s showcase in the region.
Brgy. Agustin Navarra has collected 255 kilos of solid waste with a total of 208 participants.
“The minimal volume of waste collected was due to the continued efforts of the barangay officials, active community participation, and strict implementation of the anti-littering ordinance,” said DILG-Capiz’s KALINISAN program focal person Peter John Licuran.
While in Brgy. Dapdapan in Sapian, 213 participants collected 440.7 kilos of waste materials.
Moreover, 217 participants in Barangay Taft, Tapaz were able to collect 143 kilos of rubbish.
Amid heavy rainfall, a total of 189.5 kilos of solid waste were collected by the 219 participants from Brgy. Agtambi, Dao.
Under the KALINISAN Program, the DILG will implement the Barangay at Kalinisan Day (BarKaDa) every week, where each barangay, in partnership with the private sector, will join hands to clean their respective houses to promote segregation and sorting policies.
Further, Licuran noted that the core objective of the program is to consolidate efforts from diverse sectors, fostering collective commitment to a safe and vibrant ecosystem.
“Isa sa mga core values sang aton programa, gina-encourage sang aton national government ang mga barangay kag ang local government unit nga mag-invest sa mga programa kag proyekto sa aton segregation kag waste disposal. Kag gina encourage ta man ang aton community nga magbinuligay kita nga limpyohan ang aton palibot para ang aton future generations makaambit man sang matinlo kag malimpyo nga palibot,” Licuran said.

We also encourage our community to work together in keeping our surroundings clean so that future generations can enjoy a clean and healthy environment.) (AGP/PLF/PIA Capiz)
