DILG recognizes Nueva Vizcaya for Ambaguio road project

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA)—The Department of the Interior and Local Government has recognized the Provincial Local Government Unit of Nueva Vizcaya for successfully implementing the access road projects that uplifted the plight of the Indigenous People’s communities in the upland town of Ambaguio.

DILG conferred the SubayBayani Award, highlighting the province’s exceptional performance in implementing infrastructure projects that spur community progress.

The PLGU bagged the national and prestigious award with its  CVR Masoc Ambaguio Road upgrade project, a transformative initiative that drastically reduced travel time and boosted economic activities, particularly in agriculture and tourism of Ambaguio. 

The 22.92-kilometer project was completed in 2019 with a P95 million budget from the DILG’s Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces. 

Engineer Edgardo Sabado, Provincial Planning and Development officer said the strategic infrastructure project not only facilitated the movement of goods faster but also positioned the upland town of Ambaguio as a premier paragliding destination, enhancing its appeal to tourists.

“The project was rigorously assessed based on its timeliness in adhering to planned schedules, completeness in delivering all project details, accuracy in data provision and reporting, and quality in maintaining high standards throughout implementation,” he said.

Sabado, along with Provincial Administrator Jovito  Celestino and Engr. Cesar Sentent, attended the awarding ceremony at the Sequoia Hotel Manila Bay, Parañaque City. 

Nueva Vizcaya emerged as one of the  104 local government units that underwent rigorous national validation, 40 provinces were distinguished with the LGU Exemplar award, putting also the province among the top ten awardees.

The SubayBayani Awards, a flagship initiative by the DILG, honors LGUs that exemplify outstanding infrastructure governance, emphasizing the crucial role of local governments in fostering community transformation through efficient project implementation and monitoring.
