TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) – Citing hard work and diligence, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) finds it imperative to recognize prolific local government units (LGU) by way of providing funds to defray the cost of local development projects.
This comes as DILG regional director Elpidio Durwin announced the release of a whopping P271-million incentive funds for Cagayan Valley LGUs forming the elite list of Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) awardees covering 2022 until 2023.
“This program supports local development projects identified as priorities by the LGUs and reflected in their annual investment program, and local development investment plan,” Durwin said.
For 2022, the DILG made a commitment to bankroll 30 infrastructure projects amounting to P162.5 million – on top of the five non-infrastructure projects worth P29.5 million. In that particular year, 35 LGUs made it to the list.
For the following year, the DILG provided 41 localities with corresponding funds to defray the cost of 14 infrastructure projects valued at P51.3 million and 14 non-infrastructures pegged at P27.9 million.
Moreover, 197 projects were funded through the Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Assistance Program in 2021 to 2023, with a total amount of P579.98 million benefitting roughly 4.5 million individuals in the region.
“The program funds were utilized to support the recovery and reconstruction of damages during the series of typhoons and other calamities experienced in the region,” he added.
On the anti-insurgency program, DILG rolled out P682.8 million covering the cost of 200 projects within conflict-affected communities. (OTB/PIA Region 2)
