CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA)- -The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) here recently turned over P24 million worth of infrastructure projects to the local government unit of Nagtipunan funded under the Local Government Support Fund – Support to the Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP).
GSF-SBDP is the initiative of the government, through the DILG, to bring basic services and development to the barangays afflicted by the conflict that have been left behind by the communist terrorist groups.
The program is composed of eight projects that include the construction of farm-to-market roads and potable water systems in the different barangays that were previously affected by rebel groups.
The projects include the concreting of five farm-to-market roads in different barangays and the construction of a potable water system.
DILG Regional Director Agnes de Leon said Nagtipunan, being the biggest town in the province in terms of land area, has a very important role in the implementation of projects because 52 percent of the reports from the province will come from the said municipality.
De Leon also lauded the ongoing efforts of the municipality under the leadership of Mayor Noel Lim in opening and concreting all access roads, as she expressed hope that the projects will be completed before Lim’s term ends.
The DILG director has also urged the residents to work hand in hand with their municipal leaders for the development of their town.
Lim meanwhile expressed gratitude to the DILG for the projects, as he committed to initiating more development projects for the Nagtipuneros.
“Kaya sinisikap po nating ibigay din po yung mga tulong, kumabaga po tinutumbasan din po namin kahit papaano yung mga ganitong proyekto na locally funded po, isabat mi metlang dagita dadduma para idtoy ili tayo,” Lim added.
(Translation:We are trying our best to support through the implementation of programs and projects that would complement these projects being implemented for our municipality.)
Lim called on his town mates to sustain their cooperation and make Nagtipunan a model of peace and unity, and he also thanked the Philippine Army for its support in making Nagtipunan and the whole province insurgency-free.
The signing of turnover documents and certificates between DILG Region 2, DILG Quirino, and LGU Nagtipunan was also made during the turnover ceremony held at Brgy. Sangbay on January 30, 2024.
The said activity was graced by NICA Regional Director Phlormelinda Olet, DILG OIC-Provincial Director Karen Joy C. Pablico-Castro, 86 IB 4 ID Commanding Officer of the Philippine Army LTC Empizo W. Angalao, Vice Mayor Arnel R. Fiesta, and the municipal officials and barangay captains of the recipient -barangays. (OTB/TCB/PIA-2, Quirino)
