DIPOLOG CITY (PIA) – The City Government of Dipolog, through its City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and City Youth Development Office (CYDO), has officially launched this year’s “Search for the Best MUGNA (Initiative) for Children, Youth, and Community in Dipolog City.”
The MUGNA Awards aims to recognize outstanding youth-led and youth-serving initiatives that contribute to community development and nation-building.
By providing a platform for recognition and support, the program enables young individuals and organizations to enhance and expand their projects for greater impact.
Last year, one of the recognized organizations was the Dipag Rainbow Collective (DRC), a not-for-profit organization composed of LGBTQ+ youth advocates in Dipolog City.
Dedicated to promoting a SOGIE-inclusive and LGBTQ-affirmative Zamboanga del Norte, the collective engages in education, advocacy, and community-building efforts.

DRC won second place in the 2024 MUGNA Awards for its remarkable initiative, the Gender Youth Summit, which fosters awareness and inclusivity for the LGBTQ+ community.
Reflecting on their experience, Mr. Arvin P. Laranjo, punong balangay of Dipag Rainbow Collective, shared how their participation in the awards program empowered their organization.
“Being part of the MUGNA Awards was a challenging yet unforgettable experience. We had to passionately defend why our initiative deserved to be recognized as an outstanding and brilliant community project. From the application process to the final pitch phase, we tirelessly represented our organization and the causes we advocate for. That is why we are truly grateful to the Dipolog City Local Government for recognizing and empowering important and innovative youth initiatives like the Gender Youth Summit.”
With this year’s search officially open, the City Government of Dipolog invites children, youth, and youth-serving organizations to showcase their initiatives and be part of a growing network of changemakers.
The MUGNA Awards continues to serve as a catalyst for youth engagement, reaffirming Dipolog City’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, progressive, and community-driven society. (EDT/CJH-OJT/PIA9-Zamboanga del Norte)
