Dipolog City partners with HOLCIM-PH towards sustainable waste management

DIPOLOG CITY (PIA) – Aiming to alleviate the amount of waste in local landfills, the Local Government Unit of Dipolog City partnered with the international materials company, Holcim Philippines to establish effective and sustainable waste management.

Mayor Darel Dexter Uy, together with Vice Mayor Senen Angeles led the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement alongside Mr. Samuel Manlosa, Jr., Holcim-Philippines head of geocycle and his colleagues.

During the event, Mr. Manlosa explained that since residual waste is used in manufacturing their products, the partnership is a win-win situation for both parties as this results in less waste piling up in the City’s landfills.

Mayor Uy was also proud to reveal that the partnership was 100% free and not a cent of the LGU’s funds went into partnering with Holcim-PH.

He also said that since Holcim will already be handling the residual waste, the next step will be figuring out a way to handle medical waste. (NBE/EDT/PJF/PIA9-Zamboanga del Norte)
