Dipolog City paves way for art appreciation, opportunities with Art Spark Exhibit, ‘Lunsod Lunsad’ project

DIPOLOG CITY (PIA) – Artists and art advocates from all over the province came together as Museo Dipolog unveiled Art Spark, a visual art exhibition, welcoming the public to peruse through the local masterpieces in celebration of Philippine Creative Industries Month 2024.

The event also aims to inspire young artists to continue their passions, as well as to remind them that there is a future for creatives in the city.

According to Museo Dipolog’s curator, Mr. Ernie Rojo, the event is more than just an exhibition, but a platform for local artists to express their visions, tell their stories, and share their dreams with the world.

“It is a space where creativity sparks conversations, ignites passions, and inspires change,” said Rojo.

Local artist Marianito Eguia showcases their acrylic masterpiece entitled “Blooms” in Museo Dipolog’s Art Spark Exhibit.

Art Spark was paired back-to-back with the Lary Alcala exhibit, perfectly timed with the National Artist for Visual Arts’ birth month.

Rojo described the exhibition as a “developing exhibit”, explaining that within the next two months, artists who failed to secure a spot in the exhibit can still submit their pieces and entries, ultimately expanding it to curate a community art exhibition filled with homegrown talents from Dipolog’s local art scene.

Partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the city also launched its Lunsod Lunsad: Kuyog Ta Project, aimed at promoting and encouraging art through training and workshops on film, song-writing, digital art, and visual arts. There will also be seminars on intellectual property and marketing strategies for those interested in the more technical and entrepreneurial side of the art industry.

These efforts we also made under the DTI’s #WeAreACreativeNation Campaign, highlighting the essential role of creativity and innovation in shaping the country’s socio-cultural and economic landscape. (EDT/PJF/PIA9-Zamboanga del Norte)
