MANILA, (PIA) — As the Philippines remains highly vulnerable to extreme weather events such as typhoons, especially during the last quarter of the year or, as Filipinos call it, the “ber” months, the Department of Labor and Employment National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) is poised to mobilize support for disaster-hit residents in Metro Manila through its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.
DOLE-NCR Assistant Regional Director Atty. Olivia O. Obrero-Samson shared the initiative during the 17th edition of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas media forum hosted by the Presidential Communications Office and the Philippine Information Agency, with DOLE-NCR Regional Director Atty. Sarah Buena S. Mirasol (who joined virtually) and DOLE-NCR ARD Atty. Jude Thomas P. Trayvilla.

“The TUPAD program provides vital support for our disadvantaged workers,” Obrero-Samson said.
She explained that interested individuals can access the program through six DOLE field offices or by contacting their local government units via the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
Applicants need to express their intention to participate, after which they will be referred to DOLE-NCR for an orientation session.
Under the TUPAD program, participants can secure temporary employment for up to 10 days, earning a daily wage of P645.
“Sa program na ito ay maaari silang bigyan ng temporary employment for 10 days at makakasahod sila P645 kada araw,” she said.
This initiative aims to provide immediate financial relief and job opportunities for those affected by recent disasters.
Obrero-Samson emphasized that the program is part of DOLE’s commitment to support vulnerable populations in times of need, helping them regain stability and contribute to their communities.
Through TUPAD, the department seeks to uplift the lives of displaced workers and provide them with essential resources during challenging times. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
