DMW chief offers support to repatriated OFWs from Lebanon

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) welcomed 37 repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Lebanon at NAIA Terminal 3 on September 14, assuring them of full government support.

The group, which included five children, received P75,000 in assistance from the DMW’s AKSYON Fund (Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFW na Nangangailangan).

This repatriation brings the total number of OFWs and their dependents returned from Lebanon to 403 and 55, respectively, since October 2023.

In a Facebook update, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) highlighted that, alongside financial aid, the repatriated workers received food and transportation assistance.

Hotel accommodations were also arranged for those requiring overnight stays.

Cacdac emphasized the government’s commitment to support OFWs in their reintegration and ensure their well-being upon returning home. (JLN/PIA-NCR)
