DOH-7 issues Code White Alert in Cebu for Sinulog 2025

CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – To ensure public safety during the Sinulog celebration on Jan. 19, the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-7) has declared a Code White Alert from Jan. 8 to 20.

This alert ensures that healthcare workers and medical facilities across Cebu province and the cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, and Mandaue are prepared to handle emergencies.

In coordination with the Cebu City Government and other agencies, DOH-7 will set up 42 medical stations along the Sinulog route on Jan. 18 and 19.

A total of 44 Health Emergency Response Teams (HERTs) with 240 personnel from government and private hospitals, as well as emergency service providers and volunteers, will be stationed in key areas.

The Regional Health Emergency Operations Center will also be manned by 25 personnel.

Partner organizations such as the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Coast Guard, Office of Civil Defense, Naval Forces Central, and Philippine Red Cross will support the effort to ensure seamless health services.

Health stations will provide first aid and advanced care as needed, with ambulances ready to transport patients to hospitals.

Major healthcare facilities are fully equipped to manage more serious cases.

The DOH advises attendees to prioritize their health by staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and avoiding prolonged sun exposure.

Those feeling unwell, especially with symptoms like cough or colds, are encouraged to stay home to prevent the spread of illness.

“The DOH is here to help make sure everyone stays safe and healthy throughout the event. With the support of our partner agencies, we’re ready to respond quickly to any medical needs. We’re asking all devotees to take care of themselves, stay alert, and look out for one another during this meaningful gathering,” said DOH-7 regional director Jaime S. Bernadas.
