BONTOC, Mountain Province(PIA)–Health care services in Mountain Province gets a boost through the launching of the MP- Health Care Providers Network (HCPN) at the Mount Data Hotel in Bauko on Wednesday, November 15.
Department of Health(DOH)-Cordillera Regional Director Rio L. Magpantay with Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr., mayors of the ten municipalities, and officials from Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center(BGHMC), Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital (LHMRH), Saint Theodore of Tarsus Hospital, and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation signed a memorandum of agreement establishing the HCPN in the province.
According to Micheal B. Capuyan Jr. of the Provincial Department of Health Office, the HCPN functions as one big health facility that coordinates and provides appropriate health care services.
The HCPN is a group of primary to tertiary care providers, whether public or private, offering people-centered and comprehensive care in an integrated and coordinated manner with the primary health care providers acting as the navigator and coordinator of health care within the network.
Through this network, tertiary care providers like BGHMC will provide technical assistance to capacitate primary health care workers in the barangays to be able to provide better assistance to the community members.
This means that health care is more accessible within the community, and in times where cases needs higher assessment, primary workers will refer the patients to secondary care providers in the local hospitals.
The HCPN ensures the full implementation of the Universal Health Care Law especially in ensuring access to affordable, quality, and effective health care for the people.
Funding for this program will be downloaded by PhilHealth and will be managed by the LGUs. This may include improvement of health care services among others, subject to Commission on Audit rules and guidelines.
Dr. Magpantay emphasized that for the HCPN to be effective, everybody in the network should know and be able to uphold their respective roles and responsibilities and they should build strong working relationships for a more coordinated action following a system making it easier for the patients to receive the needed health care service.(JDP/CVBT-PIA-CAR)
