BAUKO, Mountain Province(PIA)–The Department of Health (DOH) brings hope to individuals who are victims of illegal drug abuse with the establishment of the Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center(DATRC) at the Luis Hora Regional Memorial Hospital in Abatan, Bauko, Mountain Province.
DOH Undersecretary for Field Implementation and Coordination Team-North and Central Luzon (FICT-NCL) Enrique A. Tayag with DOH-Cordillera Regional Director Rio L. Magpantay and Mountain Province key officials led the inauguration and blessing of the center on November 21, 2023.
DOH USec Enrique A. Tayag shares that the establishment of the DOH-DATRC-MP is in line with the Marcos Administration’s Pres. “Bagong Pilipinas” movement where all are united in helping one another for a better future.
Usec. Tayag highlighted in his speech that the program is one of government interventions to help those who are victims of drugs to reform and improve their lives.
With the center, the DOH ensures the delivery of holistic, patient-centered, accessible, quality treatment and rehabilitation to persons who use drugs in the province and nearby areas to foster social adaptability in their transition back to society. This will further help in addressing the longstanding separation of substance use disorders in health matters.
Tayag said this kind of program manifests the “Bagong Pilipinas” movement for a progressive country through collaborative efforts.
The DOH-DATRC-Mountain Province, the first treatment and rehabilitation center in the Cordillera Region, will provide services such as drug dependency examinations, psychological testing, therapeutic counseling, drug testing, general medical consultation, therapeutic counseling and other services.
Also sharing messages of support are Congressman Maximo Y. Dalog Jr. represented by Dionisio K. Wacdisen, Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr. represented by Executive Assistant Winston V. Calde, and Bauko Mayor Randolf T. Awisan represented by Special Assistant Sebastian Badongen. Relative to the observance of the Drug Abuse and Control Prevention week, the DOH in partnership with the Provincial DOH office is conducting a seminar on Gender Responsive and Culture Approach to Addiction on November 22, 2023.
