DOH commits whole-of-society collaboration to decrease TB cases

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) –Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa expressed full support to further decrease tuberculosis cases in the country.

During the 2023 Philippine Coalition Against Tuberculosis (PhilCAT) Convention, Herbosa conveyed the commitment of the Department of Health (DOH) in this endeavor and assured that tuberculosis services will be brought closer to each and every Filipino.

He said, the DOH shall also ensure that everyone has access to quality healthcare services towards realizing Universal Healthcare (UHC).

Since 2003, PhilCAT has been the private sector partner of the DOH in the implementation of the Public-Private Mix (PPM) strategy, which has significantly contributed to increasing TB case notification rate.

“UHC provides more opportunities for further public-private sector collaboration, and I would like to thank PhilCAT for leading professional societies in the country, non-government organizations, other government agencies and corporate organizations,” Herbosa said.

“Through a whole-of-society approach we will further improve and develop programs to address the current situation on TB tungo sa healthy Pilipinas kung saan bawat buhay ay mahalaga,” Herbosa added. (doh/pia-ncr)
