BANGUED, Abra (PIA) — Eight municipalities in the province received medical equipment packages from the Department of Health-Cordillera (DOH-CAR) to improve the delivery of health services towards the attainment of the goal of Universal Health Care.
The municipal health officers and some officials from the municipalities of Tubo, Lacub, Tayum, Licuan-Baay, Danglas, Luba, Malibcong, and La Paz personally received these medical packages at the Provincial Department of Health Office- Abra.
The medical instruments include automatic blood pressure monitoring apparatus; handheld pulse oximeter; stethoscope; digital medical tape measure; pen light; dental instruments set; fetal doppler; dressing set; electrocardiogram machine; nebulizer; ear, nose, and throat diagnostic set; surgical skin stapler; non-mercurial thermometer; and multifunctional percussion diagnostic reflex percussion hammer set, among others.
These are part of the second tranche of medical equipment and supplies augmentation to local government units under the Universal Health Care law.
Provincial DOH Office head Dr. Lilibeth Martin said that the distributed equipment will support the different municipalities in delivering better healthcare services to communities.
“This is one of the initiatives of the Department of Health. We are augmenting equipment in order for our rural health units, our primary health care facilities to be capacitated and equipped to deliver quality health care services to the people,” she said.
Martin emphasized that the equipment given were based on the proposals included in the Local Investment Planning for Health, a three-year plan that serves as platform to guide and consolidate implementation strategies to improve healthcare operations and delivery in localities.
Tubo Mayor Liberty Laos thanked the DOH for the support, especially to remote towns like Tubo.
“Siguradoen mi a dagitoy nga intedyo para kadagiti kailiantayo ket mausar tie usto and we are hoping nga adda pay ti maala mi a tulong aglalo kaniami nga adda ti nasulinek a lugar,” Laos expressed.
