SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Department of Health-Ilocos Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD-1) staged its Gawad Kalusugan 2023 at the Thunderbird Resort, Poro Point in this city on December 15.
The Gawad Kalusugan recognizes health partners and advocates who supported and ensured the swift provision of health programs in the Ilocos Region for the current year.
This year’s theme is “Bawat Buhay Mahalaga: Pagbibigay Pugay sa mga Natatanging Bayani ng Kalusugan,” a nod to the agency’s collaboration and partnership with various stakeholders for a more efficient implementation of health services.
Various partners from the public and private sectors converge for the Gawad Kalusugan 2023 activity spearheaded by the Department of Health-Ilocos Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) in San Fernando City, La Union on December 15.
The set of awards was categorized into three distinguished honors, including the “Madaydayaw Awards” given to organizations, national government agencies, and provinces that supported the agency in the implementation of health programs and services at the community level.
The other categories include the “Palbayani Awards,” given to stakeholders with distinguished execution and establishment of health services, and the “Bannuar iti Salun-at Awards” for stakeholders who have shown continuous support to properly implement DOH services for the year.
More than 200 partners and stakeholders from the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan were recognized during the expansive awarding ceremony.
All in all, more than 60 public and private sector partners of the DOH received the “Madaydayaw Awards”; more than 90 partners got recognition under the “Palbayani Awards”; and around 80 partners were awarded under the “Bannuar iti Salun-at Awards”, all for their contributions toward helping implement and promote DOH programs and services in the Ilocos Region. DOH Ilocos Regional Director Paula Paz Sydiongco meanwhile recognized the importance of the contributions of the awardees despite the various challenges met in the implementation of health services in 2023, noting the innovations that were made which contributed to the health department’s goal of a healthier Philippines here in Region 1.
“The Gawad Kalusugan award serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to the betterment of health and well-being of our communities,” Sydiongco said.
Sydiongco added that collaboration with the agency’s partners enables services to reach more beneficiaries, especially those needing immediate assistance through the DOH services.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-Regional Office 1 was one of the recipients of the “Madaydayaw Awards,” with its role in information dissemination helping inform the public of services they can avail from the health department.
