DOLE-10 bags national PESO awards

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 was awarded as one of the top performing regions with the highest number of national winners and achieved the highest number of national finalists of seven among the nine different categories during the 24th National Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Congress at KCC Mall Convention Center, Zamboanga City.

One of the highlights of the Congress was the 2023 National Search for Best PESO Awards, which recognized the significant contributions and outstanding accomplishments of the PESOs in the deployment of DOLE-initiated employment facilitation programs. It likewise served as an avenue to acknowledge the exemplary performance of the PESOs as a labor market information hub and provider of employment services.

“During his recent State of the Nation Address, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., recognized PESOs for their 98 percent job placement success rate. This recognition is a testament to your hard work, proving that PESOs are crucial to our efforts to generate more and better jobs for Filipinos. This is our collective vision: an inclusive and sustainable employment environment that meets the demands of both the present and the future under a Bagong Pilipinas kung saan may matatag, maginhawa at panatag na buhay ang bawat Pilipino,” Laguesma said.

The region’s national finalists with at least 75 points in their overall performance in 2023 were: (1) PESO Province of Misamis Oriental under the 1st Class Province Category; (2) PESO Province of Lanao del Norte under the 2nd Class Province Category; (3) PESO Cagayan de Oro City under the Highly Urbanized City Category; (4) PESO Oroquieta City under the Component/Independent Component City Category; and (5) PESO Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon under the 1st Class Municipality Category.

Moreover, Meralyn Rosales, the PESO manager of Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte, won the raffle grand prize of a brand-new hybrid Toyota Yaris Cross car.

In the forefront were all the DOLE senior officials, national officers of the Public Employment Service Office Managers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PESOMAP, Inc.) and its President Luningning Vergara, and host local government unit stakeholder Zamboanga City Mayor John M. Dalipe.

The theme of the congress was “PESO: Pinatatag at Pinalakas Tugon sa Hamong Bagong Pilipinas.” (DOLE-10/PIA-10)
